In-home behavioral therapy consulting
A unique program will be designed which often consists of one-on-one direct intervention with a BCBA in the clinic and additional home tutoring hours (in the family's home). Discrete trial training and Relationship Development Intervention® strategies and techniques are employed. A Verbal Behavior approach is primarily used to teach early communciation skills. The family's BCBA will help find and then train home therapists. Home tutors come to the home of the client an average of 6-25 hours a week to implement ABC's programs. See "What is
ABA" for more info.
Social skills training
Individual and small group social skills training sessions will be held in the clinic on a regular basis. ABC's director has extensive experience with Michelle Garcia Winner and "social thinking" groups. Winner's philosophies and other social cognition curricula will be utilized and a distinctive plan will be developed for each group. Groups will consist of anywhere from one to six participants depending on the needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Every effort will be made to create groups whose participants will learn from each other and create long-lasting bonds.
Educational therapy
Academic instruction will be provided on an individual or small group setting and usually, although not always, in conjunction with a home ABA program. Frequent goals relate to reading comprehension, writing conventions and process, and math problem solving.
Educational Advocacy
ABC can help families navigate the school system. We help prepare for IEP meetings, analyze IEP's, evaluations and placements, and help problem solve difficult situations. School observations are frequently a related service of a home program, but these services can be offered to families who do not currently have a home program.
Trainings
Regular trainings are held for new home tutors, more experienced tutors, and parenting classes or other special trainings can be provided on an
as-needed basis.
